These are mostly women; they will try and wear the most fashionable dress there is, wear shoes and carry designer bags. When it comes to hair this is not an exception, the latest and unique hair style is what every woman wants. But for others having the latest hairstyle has not been possible due to some circumstances. In order to have a strong healthy hair it is important for every woman to know scalp treatment for dandruff, its causes and symptoms.

Dandruff is a condition of the scalp that is caused by dead cells. They are usually small white or grey flakes. They make a person feel itchy which can be irritating and uncomfortable though they are not contagious and are harmless. It is due to the itchiness that some people shave their hair to reduce the irritation.

The common causes for this condition are; dead cells contained in the scalp which brings about the small white or grey flakes. Not combing the hair can also be a cause; research found out that people who do not comb their hair have more chances of getting dandruff.

Another cause is dry skin- this is the commonest cause of this condition, flakes from dry skin are more and smaller compared to the normal flakes. Oily skin is another cause. Its also known as seborrheic dermatitis, its also a common condition and it is very irritating.

The known symptoms of dandruff are the white or grey flakes. They are mostly visible when a person wears something dark because they fall off a person shoulders when they scratch their scalp. The dandruff can be embarrassing at times especially in front of people. Though harmless, this condition is chronic.

The treatment depends on how the condition is, that is, whether it is mild or severe. When the condition is mild, simple things such as washing your hair with anti-dandruff shampoo while massaging gently, combing your hair daily and not scratching the scalp are just some of the ways to reduce it. Some hair products can also bring about this condition so by not using just any hair product and using hair oil that has zinc can also help.

Another highly recommended home treatment is the use of apple cedar vinegar. The procedure is really easy when using vinegar what one needs to do is to take a cup of vinegar and mix it with warm water. This is a natural remedy so the quantity does not really matter as there are no side effects. When washing hair one should massage gently and not scratch as this prevents hair breakage and also prevents the flakes from surfacing.

The only cons of vinegar is the odour that does not go away quickly it takes an approximate of between eight and twelve hours in order to make the smell to fade away. But the end results are usually good and it helps in maintain a neat and healthy hair.
